Living with Meniere’s disease means living with uncertainty.

The pressure and fullness in your ear.

The ringing that never fully goes quiet.

The fear of not knowing when the next episode will hit.

It’s exhausting. Physically. Emotionally. Mentally.

If you’ve been told to “manage it,” “wait it out,” or “just take medication,” you’re not alone.

And if you’re still searching for answers, it’s because something deeper hasn’t been addressed yet: Meniere’s isn’t just an ear problem.

Meniere's 101

What is Meniere's?

Ménière's disease is commonly noted as a inner ear disorder stemming from excess fluid (endolymph) buildup, with treatments focusing on symptom management through diet, medication, and sometimes surgery, as there's no cure but it's manageable. Symptoms include:

- Severe vertigo (spinning)

- Fluctuating hearing loss

- Tinnitus (ringing/roaring)

- And a feeling of ear fullness, usually in one ear

What Causes Meniere's?

The exact cause is unknown, but it involves a buildup of fluid in the inner ear resulting in disruption to balance and hearing signals. But balance doesn’t live in the ear alone. True balance depends on communication between the inner ear, the eyes, the brainstem and the upper cervical spine.

If these systems are not working in harmony, the brain receives conflicting information — and vertigo, nausea, pressure, and instability can follow.

Why Traditional Approaches Often Fall Short

Typical Meniere's management involves:

-Medications that control symptoms but don’t fix the cause

-Alternative Therapies such as devices delivering pressure pulses (Meniett device) or painful injections.

- Surgery for severe cases unresponsive to other treatments which range from less invasive to destructive procedures.

These approaches often miss one key question:

While these approaches can be helpful, they often do not evaluate mechanical or neurological stress at the brainstem level — where balance signals are integrated.

How Can a NUCCA Doctor Help?

NUCCA does not treat Meniere’s disease directly.
Instead, it aims to restore balance at the top of the spine so the nervous system can function with less stress and greater stability. When upper cervical alignment is improved, many patients with balance disorders report changes such as:

-Reduced intensity or frequency of vertigo episodes

-Improved postural stability

-Less neck tension and head pressure

-Better tolerance to movement

-Improved overall sense of balance and control

The Science Behind NUCCA

Neurons fire signals from the brain through the spinal cord to help control specific tissues such as muscles or organs. When the neck or spinal cord is injured, or misaligned due to injury or distortion, psychological functions such as blood pressure, immune system defense, and blood and tissue repair can suffer. NUCCA works by providing gentle adjustments to the C1 and C2 bone alignments. When your neck maintains alignment, the nervous system begins to heal.

"Dr. Charlie Ross has been helping me with my hip pain through NUCCA Chiropractic Adjustments, which involve adjusting the top of the neck in a very specific way. As a very active 68-year-old, I want to continue enjoying my golf activities with minimal soreness afterwards. The examination, particularly the x-rays, was very specific and detailed. After a few NUCCA Adjustments, I noticed that my hip pain was gone, I no longer had headaches, and my neck was more mobile. Dr. Ross recommended a very reasonable treatment plan, with the goal of having me come less frequently as the adjustments hold longer. I am very thankful for Dr. Charlie Ross; he is knowledgeable and communicates in a way that you don’t need a Ph.D to understand!"
